You remember in the The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when Riff Raff and his sister do that weird elbow sex thing? The word “Cyber” conjures up an image of two people on either side of a network connection doing just that with their computer monitor. One looking like Riff (the girl) and the other looking like Magenta (the guy). 4.3 million shoppers a minute visited sites on “Cyber Monday”, elbow sexing their way into the American dream, with one-click shopping and buying 10% more crap on Monday than they did on Black Friday. In most cities “rush hour” doesn’t really refer to a single hour. Maybe it’s half an hour some…

Friday?!?!
It’s a random Friday. The radio on my central AirPort stops working. I reset the device, do everything I know to do, but while I can log into the device through AirPort Utility there is no SSID, no radio signal whatsoever. What to do? String a cable across the room so that it can get ripped out of a computer when the crazed, sweet & squealing toddler invariably streaks through the office? Not a chance. I’ll just run out to the closest Apple store and grab a quick replacement. So I hop in the car and drive to the mall. What is going on with parking? I finally find a…

This is the 1,500th Post on https://krypted.com/
Friday the 13th November 13, 2009 represents the day that the 1,500th post goes online at krypted.com. The site was started in the waning minutes of 2004 (darn New Years resolutions), which puts us at 5 years come new years this year. I hope that you have all enjoyed and I look forward to the next 1,500 posts. Having said that, it’s time to move. Over the course of the next two weeks I anticipate a little downtime as I do not have as much bandwidth to do the migration as perfectly as I would have if it were for a customer. My apologies in advance! 😉

Prepping for Ski/Snowboard Season?
If you’re addicted to your mobile device, be it an iPod touch or an iPhone, and you’re heading out to the slopes for some fun in the cold sun then consider a few little toys that might help facilitate that cold weather use of your technology. The first is the Burton Audex jacket. I have one of these with the soft switch tech built into the arms and it works exactly as advertised. The only thing I don’t like about it is that I need to keep an older iPod around for the switching to work. But what if you crave using the touch devices without taking off your gloves.…

Kevin Smith at MacWorld?
Great. Now Kevin Smith is going to be speaking at MacWorld! Really?!?! How do you think my Collaboration Services session is gonna’ stack up to that? I guess it’s cool enough to make the email blast about Kevin Smith (very bottom, very small print, but heck it’s there – or wait, is that actually one of Arek’s – DAMN – oh, mine is right below Arek’s in even smaller print!!!), but am I now going to be this huge letdown, after him. I mean, I’ve never made a film for Prince! I’ve never directed a movie, much less one as great a cinematic treat as Mallrats! I never wrote something…

Romulus and Remus Get Drunk
Sorry kids, still nothin’ technical (I’ve been painting my house for a week). Buuuuut, Star Trek is about to release an energy drink called Romulan Ale: http://www.toywiz.com/startrekenergydrink.html And while I’m quite aware this isn’t Roman but instead a Star Trek thing (and I’ve never been much of a Trekkie myself) I felt it needed to repost the recipe for Romulan Ale before the energy drink forever obfuscates it (my guess is you’ll just add energy drink and liquor at that point). So for starters there was the lightweight version from high school: 1 1/2 oz white rum 1 oz Blue Curacao Sprite Next, there was the regular version in college:…
