Let’s see how this turns out. I added a shoutbox along the sidebar of the site. Hope it doesn’t get abused like most things do. We shall see… Anyway, let me know what you think…

New Swag
There are a bunch of new items on the https://krypted.com/ store. But even better, there is a new rotating wall that is being embedded into the store page. Check it out! Hope you enjoy!

Archives
There is a new archives page. This allows you to view the entire history of the site by date or quickly search through titles. Well, I guess I shouldn’t say quickly; given the number of posts the archives page takes a good bit of time to load… Oh and in case I forgot to mention this earlier, I totally changed the color scheme of the whole site, converted most of the graphics to png (so they should load faster) and disabled a few “features” that I had created that were bogging it down. Running faster and I think possibly looking less vampiric.

Now A Social Network
Well, I have no clue why but I decided to setup the feeds and friends aspect of a social network on krypted.com. It turned out pretty good, although there’s still some CSS work to do. You can sign up by hovering over the Social icon in the toolbar and clicking on, ironically, Sign Up. You can then click on Edit Profile to upload a picture and create your own profile page. Then, Directory to see the other users of the network. The Friends button will show you your Friends and the Friend Requests button will show you pending requests from other friends. But most importantly, the Activity button will show…

Fixes
Fixed the similar articles feature not working, then fixed the fact that this broke the front page. Also added some minor wiki integration (more on that tomorrow) and fixed the 1st level vs. 2nd level navigation in the DHTML menu bar. More on the navigation stuff later as this will lead to some content I’ve been working on going live tomorrow morning (I think).

Up-Down
Sorry for the unexpected downtime. Site is now back up and online (and added to my monitoring box).

Websites & Hairdressers
When driving by the Aveda Institute one day, my wife pointed out to me that you can always tell how far into the program that the students are. The new hairdressers have long locks of hair, but those further along in the program have their hair get shorter and shorter and shorter. This is seemingly because they keep tweaking their hair through the program until there’s practically nothing left. Websites can turn out to be almost the exact opposite. The more you tweak it the bigger it gets, the longer it takes to load and the less time you have to focus on content. I’ve added a bunch of new…

AppLoop Es Muerto
Once upon a time, AppLoop made an RSS feed app on the fly for the iPhone, using your RSS feed, your icon and caching the feeds offline so the app would function when the iPhone or iPod Touch was not online. Regrettably they are no longer with us. Which is too bad ’cause it’s an interesting business plan and I look forward to seeing if someone else is actually able to make it work. If anyone is looking at firing up such a project (or is in the process of doing so) let me know.

More Additions
At the bottom of the sidebar, you will now find badges for my pages on the main social networks. I also added Flickr & Facebook into a new Pictures page (and added pictures to the actual Flickr account since I mostly used Facebook for that)… Also changed the title and post-info/comments sections to the dark red color scheme, since I didn’t really think they looked right as black any longer. Finally, made the navbar a little slimmer. Hope ya’ll like the changes.

Gadgets & Videos
I added new pages for Google Gadgets and YouTube Videos to the navbar at the top of the screen. The Gadgets are the common gadgets I use and the Videos is a rendition of the krypted318 channel. Hope you find these useful. Look for additional applications to be added to the fat client stuff shortly.
