Tiny Deathstars of Foulness

Utility or restore partitions are often meant to be hidden for users. The setfile command can be used to change attributes of files and volumes in Mac OS X, including the hidden attribute. To hide a volume called Restore you can use the following command:
setfile -a V /Volumes/Restore

I think the big question here is, will spotlight ever offer up search results from files which are on those volumes?

And, of course can the volume be un-hidden by a script which is just about to backup into said volume…

Thanks for the tip/pointer no matter what the results are!

FYI: setfile command will only work with folders and not partitions or volumes.
