Wrote a quick little tool for mounting Box.net accounts to the Finder of Mac OS X. This allows you to interact with the Box.net service as you would a MobileMe account or a file server. The tool connects to Box.net over WebDAV and so you will need to provide you username and password (which can be saved into your Keychain) for your Box.net account with each login. However, you can put the tool into your startup items, login items, etc. Future releases might include the ability to store your credentials so you don’t have to provide them any more or the ability to synchronize your files from your Box.net account, but this fills my need for now and so I hope you will find it useful as well.

BoxMounter can be found on the Apps page of this site. Hope you enjoy!

When i first connect to my Box connect the mounter app gives some errors in a dialog box. The drive appears to mount in finder though.
Upon browsing the root folder is called ‘dav’ .. and then inside that I can see all my files. Would it not be better to mount the drive inside the ‘dav’ folder to avoid ever needing to show it ?
Good idea. I’ll try and do that in the 2.0 release, for Lion. If you get a chance, feel free to send me screenshots of the errors. Am curious what errors it has that it can still get by and mount the day share…
Excellent job, helps me a lot but has a small bug in OS LION.
Would be great if you could fix that.
Thanks a lot
I’ll check it out. I hadn’t tested in Lion (I wrote this awhile ago), but will try and address very shortly.
All I get is error -55. I typed in the wrong userid. Went to keychain and deleted the box.net password. Still have the problem. This is on 10.1.3 Mac
I don’t think the libraries I used to build it will work with Puma or Cheetah. I will see if I can find a way to if/then for the OS and then run for either. I’ll need to do that when I update to Lion anyway, so I’ll try and figure out a way to do it in 10.1 as well.
Not working in OS X Lion…frustrating… What is the timetable for the fix???
I am shooting for two weeks from now. I am sorry for the delay.
but how can i trust this app if it isn’t from box.net?
you can steal my login…
It’s uncompiled. You can look at the source code and see if I’m doing anything wacky. I’ll add that to the description of it when I update it for Lion (which should be within the next two weeks). Would love to do so sooner, but I’m swamped working on getting my next book out the door.
Hi would also love this to work on Lion please!
Ideally if it can also work with multiple accounts that would be amazing!
I’ll look into multiple accounts as well. That’s a bit more challenging due to how they deal with auth issues. I did have someone else ask about that though, so I’ll take a look at it.
Great thanks Charles,
If it’s any help the only bit of free software i have found to work with Box is called AnyClient. Its a bit clunkey but it works about 80% of the time. (I’ve transferred a few gb with it, although it does require a restart every now and then).
It might help people while Charles is working on his client.
Regards,
Dom
Hi Charles,
Hows the update for the box.net client going? Would really like to get rid of this AnyClient if possible!
Thanks,
Dom
Hi Charles,
Did you ever get anywhere with the update?
Thanks,
Dom
Does not work in OSX 10.6.8.
Works on Lion.
Would love to see multiple accounts possible.
Also, when logging in, there are some error codes, but after clicking okay, it works fine.
Thank you for the time and effort.

I think I was too quick in approving the app, at least on Lion.
